As a practicing structural engineer, Dr. Mahamid is interested in studying the methods & techniques that bridge theory into practice, therefore, his research areas and interests include:

- Behavior of concrete structures with the focus on reinforced concrete joints and connections for seismic applications
- Earthquake resistant design,
- Behavior of steel modular structures
- Computations & mechanics,
